Inter-School Debate Competition held to mark Int'l Day against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking

The abuse of alcohol and illicit and prescription drugs continues to be a major health problem. With the COVID 19 Pandemic and schools across the country shifting to online classes, activities like physical activity and social interactions, haven’t been as safe to engage in or easy to access, which has ledgy young students to start using drugs or use them more often or in greater amounts as a way of coping with stress or emotions related to COVID-19.

The School administration have been very cautious about this very serious issue and have been conducting timely workshops and talks to the students on the use of drugs and its consequences.

Marking ‘International Day against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking’, District Police Leh organised a Debate competition on the topic "Use of Drugs has always been in the society since ancient times, it is not a modern problem”. Students from SOS TCV, Lamdon School, Delhi Public school & Moravian mission school participated in the competition and presented their views on the topics.

We are extremely happy that Lamdon School stood 1st position in the overall ranking and our two students Ms. Stanzin Chosdon & Yuvraj Pratab Singh stood begged the 2nd & 3rd Position respectively in the individual category. We congratulate both these students and all the other participants from different schools for their participation.

We thank our guests for their inspiring and knowledgeable talk to the student and to Leh Police for organising this much needed event.
