Post Covid pandemic students’ visit to Lamdon Clinic has significantly increased and frequent complaints about vision problems. On the other hands teachers were complaining about students’ not completing their homework. Seeing the seriousness of the problems we had organized a Vision Screening Campaign at Lamdon Clinic for our students. We knew that the Covid related pandemic has led to a sharp increase in children’s screen time, owing to virtual education, work from home, video conferences, online entertainment, gaming, and video chatting with friends and family. Consequently this pandemic has given rise to another pandemic of eye related issues.
When schools closed down and switched to distance learning in early 2019, many young students stayed indoors and spent longer than ever staring at screens up close. “𝗔𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟰𝟬𝟬 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿-𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝘆𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮, 𝗱𝗿𝘆 𝗲𝘆𝗲, 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀, 𝗶𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘆𝗲𝘀, 𝗯𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀, 𝗹𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗽𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. 𝟮𝟱 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀.” 𝗧𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗸𝗶𝘁 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗮𝗺𝗱𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱.
The Lamdon Clinic is the culmination of years of progress that has been made by the dedicated volunteer doctors and staff of The Himalayan Health Project towards the ultimate goal of assuring world class medical health care to every resident of Ladakh.
