Breakthrough: LG Ladakh Brig. B.D Mishra inaugurates Vikram Sarabhai Space Exhibition at Lamdon Leh


Brig. (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, inaugurated a five-day Vikram Sarabhai Space Exhibition at Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School, Leh. The event, a collaboration between Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Leh, University of Ladakh, and ISRO's Space Applications Centre, aims to promote space education and awareness in the region. LG Ladakh Brig. (Dr.) B.D Mishra commended SAC ISRO scientists and emphasized the importance of acquainting students with India's space initiatives. He lauded ISRO's achievements, particularly Chandrayan 3, likening its standing to NASA. He encouraged Ladakhi youth to aspire to be leading scientists, educators, and entrepreneurs, advocating for start-ups to contribute to Ladakh and the nation's growth.


The LG honored Director, SAC Shri. Nilesh M Desai and other scientists for their contributions to Chandrayan 3. He unveiled the 𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐤𝐡-𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 (𝐋𝐀𝐌𝐀) poster and a documentary. The LG toured the exhibition, showcasing ISRO's missions.


Prof. S.K Mehta, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, University of Ladakh in his speech expressed the university's commitment to fostering a culture of scientific curiosity and innovation among its students. He emphasized the importance of such exhibitions in inspiring the young minds of Ladakh to explore the limitless possibilities in the field of space science and technology. He further reiterated the university's dedication to facilitating academic and research collaborations with esteemed institutions like ISRO, with the aim of advancing Ladakh's educational and technological landscape.


Chairman/CEC LAHDC, Leh Adv. Tashi Gyalson conveyed gratitude on behalf of the people of Ladakh to the dedicated scientists at ISRO - Indian Space Research Organisation for their pivotal role in the Chandrayan 3 mission. He recounted his visit to SAC ISRO in Ahmedabad, shedding light on the immense effort invested by scientists in ensuring the triumph of space missions.

Director, Space Applications Centre (SAC/ISRO), Ahmedabad, Shri. Nilesh M Desai presented on Chandrayan 3's historic journey, successfully landing 40 days after launch. He revealed SAC-ISRO's plans for Ladakh, including exposure tours and internships.


Our Principal Dr. Stanzin Dawa, in his address, emphasized that by embracing the boundless possibilities of space science, we are not only expanding our horizons but also nurturing a spirit of curiosity and ingenuity among our students. He urged them to seize this golden opportunity to become pioneers in the realm of space exploration and contribute to the scientific legacy of our nation. He also extended his heartfelt gratitude to the LAHDC Leh, University of Ladakh, and the Space Applications Centre (SAC) of ISRO for selecting Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School, Leh as the venue for this enlightening exhibition, recognizing the profound impact it would have on the students and the community at large.


The event was attended by distinguished guests including Chairman Tashi Gyalson, Deputy Chairman Tsering Angchuk, Executive Councillors, Councillors, officials from SAC-ISRO, and students from different schools of Ladakh.
