Parental Involvement in Education: Lamdon Leh organises Meeting of Sponsored Children's parents...

The Lamdon School Leh Sponsorship Program stands as a beacon of hope, dedicated to extending educational opportunities and a helping hand to underprivileged students in the Ladakh region. This initiative embodies our School's unwavering commitment to ensuring that every child, regardless of their socio-economic background, has access to quality education. It is our fundamental belief that education should be a right, not a privilege, and that it should be within reach of all students, even those hailing from disadvantaged families.

Currently, approximately 30% of our students benefit from complimentary education, including boarding and lodging, thanks to the benevolent local and non-local sponsors and well-wishers.

An Important meeting was convened at the Gyalsras Bakula Rinpoche Hall, bringing together parents of the sponsored children. The agenda encompassed comprehensive discussions pertaining to the sponsorship program, its terms and conditions, as well as any queries or concerns raised by parents. This gathering offered a rare opportunity for parents to actively shape their child's educational voyage and contribute to their success.

During this meeting, our Principal Dr. Stanzin Dawa underscored the paramount importance of education. He shed light on the diverse family circumstances worldwide that pose barriers to the education to 255 million children. He also enlightened both the children and parents about the profound fortune of receiving sponsorships for their education. By delving into the backgrounds of these sponsors, he provided tangible examples of individuals who, in support of their sponsored child's education, willingly forego certain personal luxuries, such as foregoing a meal or elaborate birthday celebrations. Dr. Stanzin Dawa expressed hope that the children would reciprocate this support with equal appreciation.

Furthermore, he said, “Today rich students are not those whose parents are financially rich but those students whose parents have time for their children”. He appealed to parents to exert substantial effort in allocating quality time to their children, regardless of their bustling schedules and regardless of whether their child is a beneficiary of sponsorship or not. He also emphasized the importance of discipline for the children and encouraged parents to ensure their wards received proper nourishing meals, citing instances of unhealthy eating habits he had observed during his regular visits around the school during meal times.

In a heart-warming display of gratitude, parents voiced their appreciation to the school for the unwavering support provided to their children through the sponsorship program. The meeting was attended by our Vice Principal, Headmistress, and Kindergarten Head, alongside dedicated teachers, the Sponsorship Coordinator, as well as the supervisors of the Boys and Girls Hostel. Every parents and guardians of the children were also in attendance, collectively showcasing the strength of our commitment to the welfare and education of our future generations.
