Lamdon Students turn green crusaders during Buddha Purnima Procession…

Buddha Purnima is the most auspicious day for the followers of Lord Buddha which is celebrated all over the world to commemorate the Birth, Enlightenment and Mahaparinirvana of Lord Buddha. After 2 years gap due the the COVID-19 Pandemic, the day was celebrated and observed with great fervour.

The procession ‘Bumskor’ which was carried out from Chowkhang Vihara and culminated at Leh Polo ground saw the participation of all major schools of Ladakh. Along-with all the other schools of Ladakh, our students and teachers too participated in the celebration with great devotion and enthusiasm.

With great devotion, so many individuals and organisations had very kindly arranged refreshments to the students and other participants during the procession. However, the roads and the procession route was in a pitiable state with plastics, tetra packs and food offerings strewn all around. It was heartwarming to see our school’s Eco Saver group spreading awareness and encouraging their fellow mates to clean up the garbages. Even though the students were not able to clean the entire waste nevertheless their mindset stood as an example for the others, and surely motivated many more to join. Keeping view of the fragile environment the team personally went and thanked all individuals and organisations that distributed Eco friendly and biodegradable (food items) offerings to all present.

We are extremely proud of these students and we do hope that this will serve as an inspiration to all our other students as well as other fellow Ladakhis.
